API’s Laser Tracker II enables Direct Dimensions, Inc., a high-end measuring services and modeling firm, to quickly reverse engineer aircraft and aerospace components for client customers. In a recent project, Direct Dimension’s engineers measured and modeled a BAC-111 Aircraft for a client customer. The digital measurement data was used to develop a CAD model of the aircraft for dynamic flow studies. The aircraft, which measures over 180 feet in length, was measured in just six days with the Laser Tracker II. The overall model accuracy was better than 0.008”.
