Boeing Commercial Aircraft was seeking a method to diagnosis problems with large machine tools accurately and quickly. A number of the large machine tools within its shops presented unique machine geometries that did not lend themselves to conventional optical or laser metrology tools. Boeing QA Team decided to use a laser tracker to measure these machines. The Laser Tracker II with its portability, ease-of-setup, and high accuracy provided the solution Boeing was seeking to analyze these machine tools.
